Bright Variegated Foliage That Adds Year-Round Contrast

Silver Queen Euonymus is a strong choice for gardeners who want evergreen structure without settling for plain green foliage. Its leaves are edged in creamy white against medium-green centers, creating a clean, variegated look that brightens darker corners, sharpens bed lines, and adds contrast throughout every season. Because the color comes from the foliage rather than the blooms, the plant continues to contribute even when flowering shrubs and perennials are not at their peak.

That foliage makes Silver Queen especially useful in mixed landscapes where homeowners want a planted area that looks polished and intentional year-round. It pairs beautifully with darker boxwoods, deep green laurels, flowering perennials, and even black or burgundy foliage plants. For gardeners who want a shrub that helps everything around it stand out a little more clearly, this one delivers reliable color without feeling loud or fussy.

A Compact Evergreen Shrub That Works in Real Landscapes

Silver Queen Euonymus is especially appealing because it stays in a manageable size range for many residential plantings. Rather than becoming a massive hedge, it typically matures into a compact to medium evergreen shrub that works well in foundation beds, front borders, low hedges, and mixed shrub groupings. That scale makes it easier to place near windows, sidewalks, and entries without worrying that it will quickly outgrow the space.

This more practical size also gives gardeners more flexibility in how they use it. Plant it in a row for a bright evergreen hedge, let it repeat through a border for continuity, or use it as a stand-alone accent where the foliage color can be appreciated up close. For homeowners who want a broadleaf evergreen shrub that looks refined but does not demand a giant footprint, Silver Queen Euonymus fits naturally into a wide range of planting plans.

Easy-Care Evergreen Structure for Sun to Partial Shade

One of the best things about Silver Queen Euonymus is how straightforward it is to grow once established. It performs well in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of typical garden conditions as long as the soil drains reasonably well. That kind of flexibility makes it especially useful around homes, along mixed shrub borders, and in everyday landscapes where light conditions may shift throughout the day.

It is also appreciated for its relatively low maintenance nature. The shrub can be left to grow in a naturally tidy form or clipped lightly to keep it neater as a hedge or accent. Once rooted in, it is fairly drought-tolerant and dependable, which adds to its value for gardeners who want an evergreen presence without constant attention. For a variegated shrub with strong foliage and a manageable personality, Silver Queen is an easy plant to live with.

A Smart Choice for Hedges, Foundation Plantings, and Evergreen Accents

Silver Queen Euonymus is especially effective for creating definition in the landscape. It can outline a foundation bed, edge a patio border, build a low evergreen hedge, or act as a bright anchor in front of taller plantings. Because the foliage remains attractive through winter, these spaces don't look empty or flat in the off-season.

That year-round usefulness is what gives the plant such good landscape value. Homeowners can use it where they want a broadleaf evergreen presence, as well as where they want the added brightness of variegation to break up too much solid green. For gardeners who want an evergreen shrub that feels versatile, attractive, and easy to place, Silver Queen Euonymus is one of those plants that quietly does a lot of work in the garden.

Thrilling and illustrated beautifully
Format: Paperback
Do not miss this series if your a Star Wars fan, if your a Vader fan in particular this is a must read comic as it really goes into Vaders early days and his journey to become a true champion of the dark side. Had to put it down on purpose several times so it would not end. Loving my second read of the same volume as well. This book pulls no punches and the writing is much better than I thought it would be. This is one of the few new Marvel comics that can stand tall with the classics and Dark Horses comics. Illustrations are top notch and the story is well thought out.

An origins story of sorts
Format: Paperback
Darth Vader is an angry man. Recently Anakin Skywalker, hero of the Republic, the Chosen One in the eyes of some of the Jedi, he is now a literally broken man, as much machine as human, as result of losing a battle with his former master—and ‘brother’—and left to die along the lava rivers of Mustafar. Worse, he is bereft of his great love, Padme Amidala, and is at least the proximate, if not the direct, cause of her death. So yeah, he has a few things to work out. This first volume of the second DV run from Marvel focuses on how Vader becomes Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith that strikes fear in the hearts of friend and foe alike. The plot here across the six collected issues is fairly minimal. Having lost his lightsaber to Obi-Wan in the Mustafar fight, he needs a new one, and it needs to a Sith saber, which can only be gotten by taking a saber from a foe and “bleeding” it, by infusing its crystal with all the hate and anger that drives the Sith. In the process, this will turn the crystal’s light red (thus explaining why Sith sabers are the color they are). So, the first three issues are about him acquiring and crafting said saber. The other issues are his rocky introduction to and training of the Inquisitorious, the Emperor’s new Jedi hunters. So, with six issues of not a whole lot of story, does this collection work? To my surprise, yes it does. This is all about emotion, and if there is a standout star, it’s Vader’s rage. His former life gone, crushed and burned in the fires of Mustafar, Vader’s going to forge a new one in the very flames of his anger. Writer Charles Soule has done a fine job in depicting this inner turmoil and translating it into the foundations of the Dark Lord’s new life. Also nicer is artist Giuseppe Camuncoli’s work. The artwork is dynamic—Vader is agile, fluid and skillful —and interesting. It’s good stuff and does a fine job giving us insight to Vader’s state of mind. As I’ve said, there’s not a whole lot of story here, but there is a fine character study of damaged man rebuilding himself into a powerful and formidable individual.
